All proceeds go to the organising of the WMRA International U18 Mountain Running Cup

To enter you must first Log In or Register your Details with SiEntries.

The race start is at the bottom of Stock Ghyll lane (behind the Salutation Hotel) GR 337044/LA22 0BB finishing on the summit of Wansfell at 488 m/1601ft.

The race starts with an unforgiving short, sharp ascent of Stock Ghyll Lane (which is actually a tarmacked road) to the fell gate/ stile. A runnable section to a 2nd gate leads on to a thigh burning section of steep stone steps which head directly upwards. A short section of open fell follows, over rough grass and onwards to the rocky summit.

The course will be fully flagged and marshalled. All competitors must assess that they are fit and able to participate safely in this event.  All competitors enter at their own risk and agree to abide by the FRA Requirements For Runners.  A copy of which will be on display at registration and can be viewed here

In terms of target time, if you can get close to, or even beat, your current time for 5k flat, that will be very good running!

Category:  AS
Distance:  2.5k
Climb:  400m
Skills & Experience:  n/a
Venue:  St Johns Ambulance Hall, Stock Ghyll Lane, Ambleside
Minimum age:  14 (age on day of the race)

Kit - Minimum requirement to carry is a Jacket.  However, runners must be prepared to carry full body cover, hat & gloves if required by the Race Organiser.  A final decision on kit will be made by the RO on the day and will be on display at registration.

Starting - All athletes entered will be issued with a 'dibber' (electronic timing chip) at registration in St. Johns Hall.

Athletes can choose when they would like to set off, any time between 18:00 and 20:00.

When ready, go to the starter marshal who will kit check, once cleared, place the dibber in one of the timing stations to start the clock.  Athletes must allow at least 15 seconds (approx 100mts) between runners before setting off, this will be monitored by a starter marshal.

Finishing - On arrival at the summit there will be more timing stations, simply place the dibber on the timing station to stop the clock.  Your time will be recorded instantly.

Results will be updated immediately online (SI entries website) on a screen in St Johns Hall and, weather permitting, on a screen on the summit.

N.B.It is important that all 'dibbers' are returned to registration when athletes return to the start.  This is a safety measure (to account for everyone) but will also have cost implications.
