The Dovedale Dipper is a challenging trail event for runners and walkers in the Peak District National Park. There is a choice distances on routes which explore a wonderful part of the white peak area.

The Dipper is a popular fixture with runners and hikers from far and wide. Since 2003 it has been organised annually by the Matlock Rotary Club until the reigns were handed over to Peak Running after the 2019 event.

Based in the picturesque village of Hartington both long and short routes take participants on a challenging but extremely scenic journey through the hills, valleys and villages on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border.

Competitive runners will start in a mass start at 10:00 on the 26-mile course, and 11:00 on the 15-mile course.

Walkers and non-competitive runners will be able to start between 08:30 and 09:30 on the 26-mile course, and between 10:05 and 10:30 on the 15-mile course.

All participants have until 8pm to reach the finish, and intermediate cut-off times will be applied at checkpoints.

Entries numberts are limited and will be distributed across the four start categories. The exact allocation to each start will be adjusted as necessary depending on the popularity of each category.

Light refreshments are provided at check points on the route and hot food is provided at the end.

Location: Hartington Village Hall,Hartington, Derbyshire, SK17 0AW.

A proportion of the profits from the Dipper will be donated to two charities that are important to the organisers: the Peak District National Park Foundation and Edale Mountain Resue.
