Darwen Rotary are organising this inaugural run to raise funds for local charities. The run passes Darwen's iconic Jubilee Tower, from which on a clear day, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside as well a views out to the coast and the Lake District.  The trail will be waymarked with stewards at intervals and a water station halfway. There will be refreshments at the finish.

The Darwen Rotary Trail Run consists of a nominal 15k of tracks through woodland and open moorland with some very steep ascents and descents. The tracks are very rough in places and in others they have just been upgraded. The weather can be a problem because of the height above sea level, the tower being 1100 feet above sea level. Everyone should have a mobile phone with them and if the weather is inclement then a whistle would be useful in the event of an accident.  The run will start at 9.30

The Darwen Rotary Ramble walk will be a nominal 8k over open moorland passing Darwen Tower, it is suitable for all ages.  The walkers will be using part of the course that the runners are using but there will be no overlap of both events.  The ramble will start at 9.45.

There will be medals for every runner and certificates for the walkers.

Entries at own risk.  Bolton Mountain Rescue will be attending the event for the safety of competitors.

Start: The Royal Arms, Tockholes Road, Tockholes, BB3 0PA
