Info: New entries for this event closed on Thursday 16th January 2020.
Now in its 39th year, the 2020 Box Hill Fell Race will take place at 11:00 on Saturday 18 January, using the same course as used since 2015 with registration again based in the Stepping Stones pub in West Humble Street, West Humble, RH5 6BS (grid reference = TQ170517). The predominantly off-road course is fully marked, covering 12km and featuring 520m of ascent, and will be held under FRA rules. Records: Men's = 53:49 (Chris Smith, 2019); Women's = 62:26 (Nichola Jackson, 2017)
Competitors will need to collect their race number and timing chip from the Stepping Stones by 10:45 on the morning of the race and prize giving (for overall individual Men's, Women's, FRA standard veterans categories and team competitions) will be at around 13:30.
Competitors must be aged 18 or older on race day. We will not be operating a waiting list for this race but will permit competitors to transfer their place to others up until 23:59 on Thursday 16 January 2020. Please note that The National Trust are the land-owners for the vast majority of the course and they have requested two conditions be met in order to avoid erosion of the chalk downland:
i) THERE IS A LIMIT OF 250 RUNNERS. We will accept more entries than this expecting some no-shows (330 in all). Please note that when entries opened last year they sold out in under 8 hours.
ii) RUNNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR SPIKES. They cause considerable erosion on steep downhill grass. Your co-operation is requested as significant damage could jeopardise future races
