A 42 mile point-to-point ultramarathon along the West Highland Way trail through the highlands of Scotland from Tyndrum to Fort William.

The Devil o' the Highlands race was first run in 2003 making it the second oldest ultramarathon in Scotland (after the West Highland Way Race).  The 2020 event will be the 21st anniversary. John & the Devil Team strive to continue Garry & Gemma's success to allow runners to experience the amazing scenery of the route.

Entry Information

  • 500 places will be allocated on a first come basis. There will be no ballot.
  • A small waiting list will be operated if the event sells out.
  • The event accepts female, male, and nonbinary applications
  • Entry Fee:  £57/£55*
  • No minimum running experience is required for entry
  • All runners must be at least 20 years old on race day
  • No deferrals or transfers of entries are available

Refund Policy:  90% refund up to the 1st June (after this date no refunds are available)

 

IMPORTANT 2020 EVENT INFORMATION

PARKING

To help reduce traffic/parking congestion in Tyndrum, we will be operating a car share rule for long stay race day parking. Single occupancy vehicles will not be allowed access to event parking in Tyndrum.

EVENT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We are trying to reduce the environmental impact of the event and are trialling an opt-out system for runners to choose what race stuff they would like to receive or not receive.  You can choose on the entry form whether you would like to receive the following items:  race t-shirt, finishers medal, buff and event sticker. 

T-SHIRT:  If you choose to not get a t-shirt then you have the options of either donating the £5 to charity or receiving a £5 reduction in the entry fee.

MEDAL, STICKER AND BUFF:  If you would not like to receive any of these items then the cost of them will be donated to charity.  The costs for the 3 items are:  Buff £2 / Medal £1.50 / Sticker £1.00.

All proceeds will be donated to Lochaber Foodbank.

 

IMPORTANT EVENT RULES

1) Runners are allowed external support at certain locations.  Spectators are welcome at specific locations.

2) No support runners before Kinlochleven checkpoint at 11:30am.

3) All runners must carry an emergency foil blanket and charged/switched on mobile phone.

4) It is strictly FORBIDDEN for any participant to run in place of another runner. No one is allowed to run using another runner's race number.

5) No running poles. No dogs accompanying runners. No littering.

6) Limited earphone use allowed.

 

Inclusivity & Discrimination

The event is LGBT friendly. We are also QIA+ friendly. We're friendly to everyone, really. You can enter our race as female, male, or nonbinary. If you are transgender, we are happy for you to enter and run in the gender category you identify with. Event changing, showers and toilets will be available for all genders. We are fully committed to upholding all principles of the Scottish LGBT Sports Charter.

The events strives to be as inclusive as possible and the organisers have a zero tolerance policy to any form of discrimination.  We are not keen on Donald Trump.
