Fling Training Camp:  27th - 29th March 2020

Over the last 7 years the training weekends have proved very enjoyable and beneficial to a lot of runners (especially those just coming into the sport or participating in their first Fling).  They are informal and fun and are great for runners to come together and relax, get to know each other, talk about running, learn about running and the Highland Fling, and of course do a bit of running.

Location: By The Way Hostel & Campsite, Lower Station Road, Tyndrum FK20 8RY.

Places limited to 50 runners 

This year we are again only organising one big training camp (50 runner max).

The £50.00 cost includes:

FEE INCLUDES:

  • Tea and coffee all weekend
  • Basic breakfasts of fruit juice, porridge pots, fruit, muesli, cereal, toast, jam etc
  • Veggie stew and cous cous/ Real Food Cafe chips on Friday night
  • 2 course meal on Saturday evening

The fee DOES NOT include accommodation or the Saturday bus transfer for long training run option to Balmaha (£10 extra).


TRAINING Camp RUNNING INFORMATION:

FRIDAY AFTERNOON - Short easy paced afternoon trail run

FRIDAY EVENING - Head torch run supported by Petzl, followed by meal and some short introduction talks.

SATURDAY DAYTIME - Everyone organises their own breakfast (provided by organisers), then all go on group recce run. This weekends long group run is run the last 33 miles or  of the Fling route (Balmaha - Tyndrum).  There is also a shorter option of 20 miles (Balmaha - Beinglas/Drovers).

We get a bus down to Balmaha checkpoint and run north to Tyndrum. This is a very useful final long training run prior to the event.

Back to By The Way for some post-run home-made soup.

SATURDAY EVENING - Talks by guest speakers followed by a Q&A session and group dinner including wine/soft drinks/ and cheese and biscuits followed by chat, fun and relaxation. Please bring any drinks you fancy with you.

SUNDAY AM
A wee recovery run (or further) and a running-related workshop.

Vacate the Hostel at noon and go for lunch, if you fancy it, at the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum.

OTHER INFORMATION
There will be short sports massage/phyiso appointments available throughout the weekend.
