Meall a’Bhuachaille hill race. SHR Championship 2019 final counter.

Distance: 13km
Climb: 720m

Registration from 10:30
Briefing: 11.50 am
Start Time: 12.00 noon
Venue: Badaguish Outdoor Centre, near Aviemore

Race numbers can be collected from 1030am in the hall next to the finish, runners not registered can also register from 1030am.

Refreshments of tea coffee and sandwiches are available after the race in the hall next to the finish.

Note: please bring a cup for the tea, coffee as no paper or plastic cups will be supplied.

No muddy shoes in the hall please.

Prize giving is approx 1430

Male & Female 1st 2nd 3rd , 1st Male Jnr, 1st Female Jnr , 1st Male Team, 1st Female Team, Male and Female 40, 50, 60, 70 1st.

Note: If a age category runner is placed in the first 3 then the age category prize goes to the next placed runner.

The race starts at badaguish where the first section of the route follows a forest track that joins a path  to the top of Meall a Bhuachaille, After the descent down the same way as the ascent to the bealach the route contours on  rough open hill side to a knoll on the South ridge of Creagan Gorm, then follows a small animal track up the ridge to the top of Creagan Gorm where a rough path can be followed or not to the last summit of Craiggowrie where there is a fast heather descent into the forest and then back down the track to Badaguish and the finish.

On a clear day if you have time to look there is spectacular views from most of the route.

The race route is unmarked except for a few path junctions, first part of the descent from the last top and the final section through the forest.

Navigation skills may be required in poor visibility.

Full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, whistle, compass and map must be carried.
