Please note race changes due to Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Pennine Bridleway trail run from historic Hayfield village to Rushup Edge and back. A combination of fast trails, challenging ascents and superb Peak District scenery. The PB18 is a great opportunity for runners new to off-road, as well as a great middle-distance trail challenge for experienced athletes. Total ascent is 806 metres.

The PB18 is a low-key race in the usual style of Ranger Ultras’ events. A self-navigating race, but route finding is straightforward with official Pennine Bridleway finger posts to help you along the way. We will also have our Ranger Ultras’ Safety Team support at HQ, and on-course.

Snacks and drink refreshments on-course and awaiting all runners arriving back at Hayfield.

Finishers medals and winners and age cat trophies.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update & Actions

(Written on 14/3/2020) We've been closely monitoring the developing situation regarding Coronvirus (Covid-19) over the past few weeks. Naturally, we are concerned for the welfare of runners and team members attending our events as well as your wider family and community. We are very mindful of reasonable precautions, actions, social responsibility and social distancing. In response to the Coronavirus, and given the relatively small nature of this event, we have made proportional changes to the forthcoming PB18 Trail, which we shall detail as follows. We shall continue to review the situation in the coming weeks before the race.

ITINERARY

Saturday 4th April

Main change to the PB18 trail. There will no longer be a mass start. Instead, the PB18 will be a TIME TRIAL format. This is how it will work...

  1. Runners will report to Race HQ at any time between 09:30 and 12:00 midday.
  2. On the day, you choose what time to report to Race HQ
  3. On the day, you choose your approx start time between 10:00 and 12:30
  4. There will be a kit check (compulsory kit to be carried) and race number issue
  5. Then report to race start timekeeper at Race HQ
  6. Your individual start time will be recorded and you may proceed onto the course
  7. You may, if you wish, start with a small group of friends so you can run together
  8. The PB18 course is unchanged
  9. There will be an aid-station at the Rushup Edge half-way turn
  10. For a valid race time, runners must report their race number to the marshal at the course turn
  11. On finishing the PB18 back at Race HQ the timekeeper will record your finishing time
  12. Cut off time for all PB18 participants to be back at Race HQ is 17:00, this allows some extra time especially for the early starters.
  13. Finishers medals will be presented at Race HQ

ADDITIONAL NOTES

BEFORE THE RACE

  • As you would with regular flu or other illness, but even more so with the Coronavirus situation. If you are feeling unwell, have a fever or new cough, please remain at home. Do not try and race.
  • There is currently a national shortage of alcohol and hand sanitiser. If you have your own personal hand sanitiser, we recommend you brig it with you.
  • Plan to be as self-sufficient as possible for the event
  • Plan to limit your time inside Race HQ. Eg arrive in your running clothes & getting changed in your car.

AT RACE HQ

  • Will be open from 08:00
  • Please try to time your arrival to within approx 30 minutes of your intended start time
  • There will be our usual friendly greeting and warm welcome, but no handshakes for this event
  • Soap and hot water for hand washing will be available
  • No access to kitchen for runners
  • Pre-packed snacks and food will be available
  • There will be space to get changed and leave a bag
  • As usual, please leave muddy shoes outside
  • Put all tissues and discarded items straight into the bins provided

ON COURSE

  • There will be water and pre-packed snacks at Rushup Edge aid station race-turn
  • Please place any rubbish or waste directly into the black bags provided

AFTERWARDS / RESULTS

  • With the TT staggered start format, until the last participant is back at the finish, the race winner award will not be certain
  • Full verified results and winners will emailed to all participants and published online within 5 days of race completion to Ranger Ultras Website  and Ranger Ultras Facebook page
  • Hot drinks and pre-packed snacks will available at Race HQ for finishers
  • You may, if you wish, pop back to Race HQ at the end of the day to see the provisional results
