Event Organiser - Peter Toghill

This event has reached the maximum number of cars that can be parked in public car parks in Burley.  We have arranged that a field will be available for parking if ground conditions are dry enough.  Decision will be made on thursday 13February2020.

Entrants that do not need car parking space because you are travelling with someone already entered, are staying in a local hotel, or similar reasons, you should contact the event organiser after your entry has been added to the wait list when further instructions will be given.


26 mile or 18 mile route over forest tracks, paths, grassy rides, woods, and heathland with lovely open views. Navigation skills required to find a route between check-point grid references in correct order.

Entrants for the 26 mile walk may opt for a guided walk led by a member of the Wessex Group. A limited number of spaces available for this option. Guided walk not available in 2020

Entry Fee:  
£10.00p LDWA Members or £20.00p Non Members( £5 extra for Guided walk & £5 extra for all entries “on the day”). 

OTD entries only accepted if the event is not full. Please check online before making journey.

Fee includes refreshments at manned checkpoints, (Please bring your own mug) and hot meal  at the finish.

Free car parking available at Grid Reference SU214029 (opposite the Cricket Ground). Paid car parking in village at SU211031. Please car share where possible


Start: 08:00 for  walkers.

         09:00 for   runners.                                                                                                                              


07:00 - 07:45 for  walkers

08:10 - 08:45 for runners. 

Finish Time:            
All entrants to finish by 17:30hrs. 
A certificate will be awarded to all who finish within the 17:30 cut off time limit

Terms & Conditions for Entry

  1. Entrants to follow the advised route, visit checkpoints in prescribed order and ensure their arrival at manned checkpoints is noted by Marshals.

  2. Entrants to ensure all checkpoint numbers are noted on their checkpoint card.

  3. Maximum time limits and checkpoint closing times will be enforced.

  4. All entrants who retire should report to the nearest checkpoint where possible or contact the emergency number supplied to arrange transport back to the finish.

  5. Entrants must carry a map and compass/GPS, a mug for drinks at checkpoints and a pen/pencil to write on checkpoint card.

  6. Entrants to follow the Countryside Code at all times.

  7. Initially car parking is limited to 120, car sharing would be appreciated. If the ground conditions are fairly dry a week before the event, additional parking will be available in a field and entry limit increased. 

  8. Dogs are not permitted unless registered assistance dogs.

  9. Minimum age of 18 unless accompanied by a responsible adult.

  10. Entrants confirm they have sufficient knowledge, experience and navigational skills to take part in this long distance challenge in the prevailing weather conditions.

  11. Entrants confirm they are in good health and have no medical condition (s) that may cause undue concern or inconvenience to the organisers or others.

  12. Entrants participate at their own risk and are aware that no liability is accepted by the organisers for injury, damage or loss sustained by the entrant before, during or after the event.
