Overview

This is the postponed LM42 event from March 2020.

For clarity purposes, orginal entrants were offered a default to this date, or a voucher to a future NAV4 event.

The majoirty opted for 15th August and I hope to host you all on that day. As th event was not sold out, there are currrenty entries available, c.40 places. Naturally, there is still much uncertainty but things are changing weekly. I'm hopefully for August,  if only becasue the weather and daylight hours should be kinder than March, Suffice to say, if August can;t happen I'll roll your entry open to next year Ullswater Way or Tour de Helvellyn or .....

So - Under hyped and aimed solely at those with good mountain running and 'hill skills'.. LM42 is no tame trail race!  You will be going over mountain summits, on mountain trails, so good basic navigational skills will be required.

Expect a very tough mountain trail route including the summits of Helvellyn and High Street, on a variety of terrain but predominately Lakeland mountain paths. Total distance will be around 42 miles with several thousand feet of ascent . An early dawn start will set you up for a daylight completion … if you can!

Start Time
6.00am Date - Saturday 15th August - 42miles/c.2000+m  (exact route subject confirmation)

Entry

Only available to competent mountain runners - limited to 150 starters  (Entry system will accept 165 to allow 10% DNS)

Bookable floor space on Friday night - £10 per person  - tbc - subject to some virus thingy...

Campervans / campercans must pay £10 overnight fee if staying overnight.  Book via 'Edit My Entry' if you need to add it as an extra after you have entered.

Route
Start / Finish – Askham Community Centre The route takes in the summit of High Street and Helvellyn. *tbc

Kit
Full mountain running gear required!

Kit wise, expect to carry the usual mountain running safety gear. Waterproofs, quality long sleeved thermal, spare fleece or primaloft. Warm hat and gloves (and spares?) Head torch, compass, map, food and drink, survival bag, whistle … etc.  Random kit checks in pre-start area and on route.  GPS watches may be used, but you must have a hard copy paper map, and a compass. The free and excellent OS Locate App is highly recomended for your phone.

Askham
Askham is a great venue being on the edge of the National Park, with a range of local accommodation options, and good rail connections via Penrith. You can also book a bit of floor space at Askham Community Centre for Friday night, if you wish, ready for the early start.

'Final Info'

An email will be sent to everyone in the week before the event with 'Final Info'.  This will answer anything not covered by the website.  The NAV4 Adventure facebook may be useful to share comments, liftshare and post FAQ's that previous entrants can respond too.  Some things are 'fluid' ....
