Welcome to Anagach – a favourite area for many orienteers, and using our brand new map of the area. There will be courses to suit all ages and abilities including beginners.  Families and groups welcome.

Terrain: Anagach is a very pretty birch and pine wood with interesting contour features and a well-used path system, which skirts around wooded marshy areas. Please respect other users of the forest as the paths are popular with dog-walkers and mountain bikers. 

Map: Pre-marked and printed on waterproof paper, scale 1:10.000 with 5m contour intervals. Prepared by Trailmaps (Steve Smirthwaite) using the latest LiDAR data, and funded with the generous assistance of the Berry Burn Community Fund. 

Directions and Parking:  Parking and event base will be at Grantown Primary School - postcode PH26 3HZ. From Inverness, travel south on A9 for 20 miles, then turn left onto A938 (signposted Carrbridge). After 9 milesturn left onto A95. After 2.2 miles, at the second roundabout, take first exit (A939) signposted Grantown-on-Spey. After a further 0,4 miles, turn right onto Woodside Avenue and the school is on your right after 200 yds.

Registration and Downoad: In Grantown Primary School

Start and finish: The same for all courses - both approx. 300m from Grantown Primary School.

Pre-entry Information: Entry on the day will be possible but please pre-enter online at SIEntries.  This will guarantee your choice of map and make life as easy as possible for us. Online pre-entry will close at midnight on Tuesday 5th February 2019.  Limited map availability on the day.

Course Lengths:

White - 1.8km - 40m climb
Yellow - 2.4km - 65m climb
Orange - 3.2km - 70m climb
Light Green - 3.6km - 105m climb
Short Green - 3.6km - 110m climb
Green - 4.9km - 130m climb
Blue - 7.1km - 160m climb
Brown - 9.4km - 230m climb 

Registration: 10:15-11:45

Starts: Punching starts, 10:45-12:00. Start times will not be pre-allocated, turn up when you are ready and the start official will let you start when there is space on your course. There may be short delays at popular times. 

Contactless punching (SIAC) will be available.  A limited number of SIAC cards are available to hire (£4). Start and Finish will NOT be contactless and so MUST be punched.

Courses close: 14:30

Dogs: On leads only

Catering: There will be stovies available at a charge of £4 per person. Homebaking also available.

Safety: Note there are ticks in the forest. It may be cold and wet - please dress appropriately.

Medical Conditions: If you have a pre-existing medical condition of which we should be aware, please complete a form at registration. This will be kept in a sealed envelope during the event in case the information is required and then destroyed afterwards.
