The Dorset Giant is one of the three events comprising the South West Triple Challenge, the other two being the Wye Forest 50 and the Wellington Boot.

This time the event is slightly shorter than previously at 56 miles. It starts and finishes at the Wey Valley School in Broadwey, just north of Weymouth. The route initially goes west though Langton Herring to Abbotsbury. It then goes over Shipton Hill and north to Loders and Mangerton before turning east to Kingcombe and Toller Porcorum and to the evening meal checkpoint at Frampton. The route then continues east to join the Cerne Valley at Godmanstone, then broadly south through Charminster and the eastern edge of Dorchester back to Broadwey.

The duration of the event is 24 hours: from 08:30 on Saturday 13th April to 08:30 on Sunday 14th April.

There will be a rolling start, so you can start any time between 08:30 and 10:00. Fast walkers and runners should start later to avoid being held up at the first checkpoint. Details of checkpoint opening times will be published on this site closer to the event. Latest finishing time is 08:30 on Sunday.

The event will start and finish at the Wey Valley School, Dorchester Road, Weymouth, DT3 5AN. Participants in previous years' Dorset Giant and in the Dorset 100 will know this venue already. The school is about 2.5 miles north of Weymouth on the old road to Dorchester. The grid reference of the School is SY668827. Click on the Grid Reference for a map.The school is very accessible by public transport. Upwey station is less than 10 minutes walk away (it is possible to walk through the back way rather than going the long way round on the road), and buses from Weymouth and Dorchester stop outside the school. There is ample parking at the school.
You will not be able to park in the grounds or sleep in the school on the night before the event. There will be a sleeping area available after the event.

Entry costs £18 for LDWA members and £25 for non-members. The entry fee includes a certificate, refreshments at checkpoints, a hot meal in the evening and at the finish. Entries limited to 230.  No entries on the day.
