The Northumbria group of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) is proud to have been given the honour of hosting the annual hundred mile walk. The Hadrian Hundred Marshals' Walk is only open to people helping on the main Hadrian Hundred event.

The Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) organise their ‘flagship’ 100 event each May. This event is held in a different area each year and entails walking 100 miles in 48 hours. The Hadrian Hundred route will start and finish in Hexham, once the haunt of marauding Vikings but now England’s favourite market town with the imposing Abbey at its hub. Starting in Northumberland the route visits Cumbria and Durham before returning to Northumberland for the later stages. Highlights include sections on Hadrian’s Wall, the South Tyne Trail, Pennine Way (including Cross Fell, at 893m the highest point on the Pennines, and High Cup Nick, well known as one of Northern England’s geological wonders), Weardale Way and Isaac’s Tea Trail.
