MEETING POINT: Hayfield Village, Peak District, SK22 2EP (Full joining details will be following booking)

COURSE INCLUDES: Two full days guided training by Spine Team instructors. Navigation skills and route finding though villages, across agricultural field mozaic and over high moorland mountain environments. We set up and bivvy overnight, cooking up a variety of meal ideas. Discuss kit and strategies for on the trail and transitioning through checkpoints. Helping you develop your practical skills and knowledge for you to build your own independent strategy and race with greater confidence.

Racing in summer conditions

Foot care and heat injury

Bivvying and camp craft

Transitions, sleep, timings, on course facilities

Building your navigation toolbox, maps & using GPS

Fast & efficient route finding & off route relocation.

 

WHAT TO BRING:

Clothing, kit, fluid and snacks for two days on the hill in spring conditions.

We do not return to vehicles so you’ll need to bring what you need for the bivvy night out.

Waterproof jacket (with hood) and over trousers

Warm layer (worn and spare), hat, gloves, spare base layer, spare socks

Sleeping bag and mat

Bivvy bag / lightweight one-man tent.

Stove (eg Jetboil, MSR pocket rocket, trangia) and Gas/fuel (no solid fuel)

Pan, cup, utensils (eg Alpkit titanium spork)

Water bottles, bladder, 2 litres.

Compass – we recommend Silva Expedition 4 (civilian degrees version).

Head torch & spare batteries

Map O.S. 1:25,000 OL1 Dark Peak – we have some of these to lend if you haven’t got one.

Ration pack for dinner and breakfast

Drinks flavourings, coffee etc

Water purification tabs

Toiletries, blister kit, personal meds and items of a personal nature.

 

Recommended

GPS

Midge head mesh, mosquito / midge repellent

Sun cream, sun glasses, sun hat, buff

Note pad and pen.
