The Fisherman’s Trail is one of Europe’s most spectacular coastal adventures — a wild, windswept journey along the rugged west coast of Portugal. Our guided running holiday will take you atop golden cliffs and along secluded white-sand beaches.
Your holiday starts in Lisbon, a city bursting with colour, character and adventure. Wander cobbled streets lined with pastel buildings, ride iconic yellow trams and soak up stunning views overlooking the city and Tagus River. Feast on delicious pastéis de nata, soak up the atmosphere and explore historic squares before watching the sun set over this captivating city.
We then travel to the spectacular Atlantic coast, where our journey begins! Winding through the breathtaking landscapes of the Rota Vicentina, the 75Km Fisherman's trail follows ancient paths once used by local fishermen as they made their way between remote coastal villages. Expect exhilarating cliff-top running, soft sandy tracks, pine-scented trails and rocky paths carved into the landscape. Feel the Atlantic breeze on your face as waves crash far below, then drop down to deserted beaches where the only footprints might be your own.
Away from the trail, life moves at a wonderfully slower pace. Discover sleepy fishing villages, enjoy fresh seafood and local wines, watch spectacular sunsets over the ocean and unwind beneath Portugal’s warm evening skies.
