Blickling Park NT

Directions: Blickling Hall is situated 1.5 miles north west of Aylsham on Blickling Road. The area is owned by the National Trust so just follow the brown tourist signs from Aylsham.

On arrival follow signs to the overflow car park.

 

Terrain & Safety information:  

This is a popular National Trust area. The courses will use both the wooded areas to the north of map and open areas park/pastureland to the south. There is forestry work and heavy bracken/bramble growth in parts which has made runnability in some areas slow; however there is a good network of tracks and paths. All courses will run through fenced enclosures which are marked on the map as 'uncrossable'. Only crossing points marked on the map should be used.

Some courses will cross fields containing sheep and cattle and competitors are asked to not run through any herds but to skirt around them. In particular try not to pass between cows and their young. If a control happens to be surrounded by a herd of cattle do not walk into the middle of them to get it but explain at download who will treat you as having visited that control for the purposes of the results.

Please keep dogs on lead. You are advised to carry a whistle

Punching Start & Finish.  Other controls are enabled for contactless SIAC use.  Should the control not respond to a contactless ‘punch’ it is the competitor’s responsibility to undertake a manual ‘punch’.  

East Anglian Junior Championships

The East Anglian Junior Championships will be run under the rules for the East Anglian Schools Championships and competitors wishing to take part should follow the link below for eligibility details and an explanation of which course to enter.

Car Parking - This is free for National Trust members but you will need to scan your membership card at the machine located in the main car park or use the JustPark app. Non-members will have to pay £5 by contactless card at the pay and display machines located in the main car park or use the JustPark 

Registration will be adjacent to the car parking area.

Start will 350m from Registration/Start - follow taped route.

 Finish will  be 150m from registration/download.

Timings

Enquires/Registration*: 10:00 to 12:00 (*plus entry on day registration if applicable)

Starts: 10:15 to 12:15 (no allocated start times)

Courses Close: 14:00

A first aid bag is available at Registration.  

Facilities: Toilets and a National Trust Café are located at the eastern end of the main car park.

 

Dogs: Dogs are welcome in the car park but not on orienteering courses due to the presence of livestock
