Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a group of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run/walk alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry with discretionary discount codes available as below: Individual entrants aged 16-21 are invited to use the discretionary discount code SpunchZoom50. This will provide a 50% discount on the applicable entry fee. Intended for students in full time education or on very low or zero income. Entrants aged 22-25 are invited to use the young adult discount code Spunch25. This will provide a 25% discount on the applicable entry fee intended for young adults just starting out in life with low resources. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Spunch! Is a big sporty treasure hunt with a difference - A fun, friendly & safe mini-adventure with a unique & colourful map. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Locals and newcomers always welcome.
Run or walk. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! 60, 90 and 120 min course duration options (you can choose on the day itself).
The event is open to all and we are delighted to be staging this one from the farmersarmspoynton.co.uk in collaboration with PoyntonRunners
Visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, Satellite punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch. With over 60 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
For runners, walkers, friends & families. Go solo, pair or in a group of 3 or more. We can usually pair you up on the day if you prefer not to go alone. Lots of help available for newbies. Dogs are welcome too, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
On-site Registration opens at 5pm and you can start anytime from 5pm to 730pm. (Last start for 90 min course 715pm. Last start for 120 min course 645pm). One of our autumn sunset series - early starters will get the benefit of at least some daylight. Sunset about 620pm, dark from about 655pm. Hi-vis & torch required if you intend to be still out after sunset.
Final details and the MapRun courses are usually published to all entrants on the day before the event giving you time to make a route plan!
Where?
The Farmers Arms, 90 Park Ln, Poynton, Stockport SK12 1RE.
An overdue return to the Farmers. The venue will provide a warm welcome with a wide selection of drinks and food available including the much-loved Tuesday Chippy Tea for £12.95. The pub is child & dog friendly.
Parking, Registration, Help, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Results, Food & Drink all at or near the venue.
Getting there by car: Easy to get to from the Manchester Airport Link Road - Just 15 mins from M56 J5 and M60 J4
Arriving by public transport: A good one to come to by train - just 1k flat walk from Poynton Station which is on the main Manchester - Stockport - Macclesfield - Congleton - Stoke line.
The Area & Course
At this time of year we will be mostly in and around this attractive town. Flatter to the east, and rising up to the west there will be both hilly and less hilly options. Lots of green corridors and cheeky paths & cut throughs to explore, you will definitely need your head torch after dusk.
A mixture of underfoot conditions from tarmac to off-road trails*. There will be something for everyone and even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Hope you will come along and give it a go. *total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
