From the wild shores of Cape Wrath to the iconic arches of the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Cape to Glen is an unforgettable journey through some of the most remote, rugged and spectacular landscapes in the United Kingdom. Following the legendary Cape Wrath Trail, this is an adventure that will test your endurance, reward your determination, and immerse you in the untamed beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
Your adventure begins on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. After registration in Fort William on Saturday 22nd May 2027, participants will travel north to Keodale on Sunday morning before boarding the ferry across to the Cape Wrath peninsula. From there, the route heads north to the famous Cape Wrath Lighthouse, perched dramatically above towering sea cliffs and crashing waves. Standing at the most north-westerly point of mainland Britain, you'll look out across the endless ocean before turning south and beginning your long journey towards Glenfinnan.
The route traverses an extraordinary variety of landscapes. Vast empty moorlands, ancient mountains, hidden glens, crystal-clear lochs and winding rivers create a constantly changing backdrop as you make your way through the Highlands. Along the way you'll pass through some of Scotland's most remote and beautiful regions, visiting aid stations at Kinlochbervie, Inchnadamph, Clachan, Kinlochewe and Morvich. Between them lie long stretches of wilderness where self-reliance, determination and good decision-making are as important as physical fitness.
This is not simply a race from one point to another. It is an opportunity to experience the Highlands in a way that few people ever do. Golden sunsets across remote ridgelines, mist rising from lonely glens at dawn, the sight of red deer on distant hillsides and the ever-changing weather combine to create a truly memorable adventure. Every mile offers a new perspective and a fresh challenge.
The journey covers approximately 214 miles from start to finish. Highlights of your journey are the world renowned Sandwood Bay, Kylesku Waterfall - the tallest in the United Kingdom, the beauty of Assynt, the ancient forest of Fisherfield and the rugged mountains of Torridon, all before reaching your final aid station at Morvich. From here you’ll have a final 47 mile push to one of Scotland’s (and Harry Potter’s) most recognisable landmarks.
Your journey concludes beneath the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct, where the sight of its sweeping arches marks the end of an epic crossing of the Highlands. Whether you arrive chasing a podium position, a personal goal, or simply the experience of completing one of Britain's greatest long-distance adventures, Cape to Glen promises a journey that will stay with you long after the finish line has been crossed.
