The Cleveland Hills 80KM is a point-to-point ultra challenge. Participants will traverse the incredible and varied landscape of the North Yorkshire moors and follow the final section of Wainwrights Coast to Coast path.
Starting in Ingleby Arncliffe and finishing at the coast in Robin Hood’s Bay, participants will cross varied terrain that packs exciting trails, rolling ridgelines, exposed moorland, and ancient woodland. It’s a challenging but enticing day out on the trails that’s offered up to test experienced runners & strong hikers alike.
The route follows the established Coast to Coast path from Ingleby Cross to Robin Hood’s Bay which is way-marked, but this should not be solely relied upon for navigation.
Terrain includes a mix of trail, moorland, forest track, uneven ground throughout, and some short sections of road.
A GPX file and final route details will be provided in advance of the event.
There will be 3 checkpoints along the route:
· CP1 – Lordstones (12.7KM)
· CP2 – The Lion Inn (31.8KM)
· CP3 – Horseshoe Hotel (49.5KM)
All checkpoints will provide:
· Water and hot food (vegan / GF option available)
· Snacks & race nutrition
· Indoor access and toilet facilities
· Basic first aid support
· Overall cut-off: 15 hours
· All participants must reach individual checkpoints cut-off times (to be detailed in final event pack)
Participants who fall behind cut-off pace may be withdrawn from the event for safety reasons.
This is a physically demanding 80KM ultra. Participants must be adequately trained and prepared.
· Mandatory kit list will apply and must be respected at all times (details provided prior to race day)
· Live tracking will be in place for all runners – It is the participant’s responsibility to return the tracker
· The route must be followed at all times
· Participants needing to withdraw from the race must inform race control and report to the nearest checkpoint – Trackers must be returned to a member of staff upon withdrawal
Participants must be capable of maintaining forward progress within the guidelines of our event cut-offs.
· This event is officially registered with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) - Participants who finish this race will be able to earn ITRA endurance points.
· Full race details, GPX file, checkpoint breakdown, cut-offs, and mandatory kit list will be issued in advance
· Event Terms & Conditions will be provided separately
· Free parking available at the start location
· Bag drop service from start to finish
· Finish line located at Robin Hood’s Bay
· Return transport options will be confirmed prior to race day
