Celebrating the 201st Anniversary of the S&DR railway and the pioneering Northeast Engineering history, the Locomotion Charity Run has a choice of 2 routes (10 miles or 5 miles) partially along the original railway route.
Proceeds to the Great North Air Ambulance and MND (Motor Neurone Disease Association)
WILLIE MADDREN
It is now 26 years since the passing of one of Middlesbrough's MFC's great iconic players. Willie played from 1968-1979 making 293 league appearances. He remains as a BORO legend and sadly passed away after a hard-fought battle with MND. We are donating 50% of this events receipts to that cause.
ROUTES:
10 mile run: Ambassador is The Baroness Grey-Thompson DBE DL
Sponsors: Grand Central Railways/Northern Rail and TransPennine rail
Starts at Locomotion, Station Road, Eaglescliffe, through Preston Park, onto the Teesdale Way, then to S&DR Ticket Office Stockton and return to Locomotion. (3 miles road / 7 Miles track).
5 mile run: Ambassador is Matt Vickers (MP for Stockton West)
Sponsor: Northern Rail
Starts at S&DR Ticket Office Stockton onto the Teesdale Way through Preston Park, finishing at Locomotion, Eaglescliffe. (1.5 miles road / 3.5 miles track).
NOTE:
- Neither route is suitable for any prams other than those specifically designed for cross country use.
- Both events are dog friendly.
- Age range for the run 10 years+. Anyone between 10 and 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
2. Northern Rail have again, kindly provided free use of the Eaglescliffe Station Car Park for all competitors and supporters on the day of the race.
3. Northern Rail have also kindly provided free rail tickets from Eaglescliffe Station to Thornaby Station for the 5 mile runners. This will mean registering at The Locomotion, leaving your car at Eaglescliffe, a free train ride to Thornaby, and a 1/4 mile walk over Thornaby bridge to the 5 mile start and running back to the finish line at The Locomotion and your vehicle.
ENTRANTS RAFFLE:
Grand Central along with TransPennine are kindly providing TWO PAIRS OF FIRST CLASS RAIL TICKETS for which all finishers of the 5 mile and 10 mile event receive a free raffle ticket and be entered in a raffle on the day of the event.
In addition to this a further raffle prize of a conducted tour and tea at the House of Commons chaperoned by our local MP Matt Vickers.
TIMETABLE:
10 mile run: Registration at Locomotion from 9.00am, run starts at 10.30 am
5 mile run : Registration at Locomotion, from 9.00am, run starts at 10.30 am
Medals will be awarded to all finishers, and trophies to male and female run winners.
The event is organised by the Locomotion Hotel, Eaglescliffe with support from The Rotary Club, Lucy Pittaway LTD, The Coop, One Stop and Cleveland Police.
