The Longridge Long Ride Rotary Sportive is a fundraising event where the proceeds are used to support local charities through the Rotary Club, all staff are volunteers and cover their own costs.
This years route circles the Forrest of Bowland, climbing up through the Trough and Jubilee Tower with fantastic views over Morecambe Bay and the hills of the southern Lake District. Through Caton to Wray where the feed station is in the village hall where toilets are available. For the first time we will have tea and coffee available as well as the usual fare.
The 100 k route carries on and the 100 mile loops up to Chapel le Dale in Yorkshire and circles back to Wray to the feed station for the second time and carries on the same route as the 100 k heading towards Settle and passing through Wigglesworth and back into Lancashire through the villages of Bolton by Bowland and Waddington
The short route follows the same route but deviates at Dunsop Bridge and crosses the border at Tosside and rejoins the route at Wigglesworth.
There are some wonderful quiet road to be ridden with fantastic scenery and interesting villages.
There is ample parking at the start Longridge Civic Hall as well as toilet facilities.
The ride will set of from 8.00 with registration from 7.15
The cost is £25 and all the funds go into the Rotary Club and are distributed to local charities. Last year we raised a little over £3,000 and if you follow us on Facebook or look at our website you can see the good causes that have benefited.
