LIMINAL is a 12-round + 1 race.

LIMINAL is the first event in THE CUT endurance series. A first-of-its-kind endurance format in the UK, it challenges the predictability that dominates modern racing. While traditional events reward preparation against fixed variables, THE CUT operates differently. For LIMINAL, distance remains within defined limits, but time shifts. Structure evolves. Certainty is removed.

THE CONCEPT

12 hours + 1
A running-based endurance format.
Each round begins on the hour.
The running loop operates within defined distance limits (3-4 miles)
The required time to complete it is not disclosed until you step off.
Miss the requirement for any round then you are cut.
No extensions.
No negotiation.
No second chances.

Meet the requirement then you go again.
The running remains.
The certainty does not.
Curveballs are deliberate.
Composure is tested.
Grit is exposed.

If competitors survive all 12 rounds without being cut, the event enters its final hour.

Head-to-head.
Winner takes all.

One male and one female will stand alone in victory.

Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club // Perranporth Beach

Please give yourself plenty of time. There is no competitor vehicle access onto the beach, so everything you bring needs to make the journey from your vehicle to the Surf Club.

PARKING

The two main options we recommend are:

Texaco Garage Car Park — Budnic Hill, Perranporth, TR6 0BX. This is a privately operated, paid car park and the closest of the two options.

Perranporth Rugby Club  — TR6 0DB.

Allow time to park, unload and walk to the venue. Don't make your first challenge of LIMINAL a sprint to the venue. 

ESSENTIAL KIT

We’re deliberately keeping mandatory kit straightforward, but come prepared for Cornwall, on a beach, in late October.

Bring: head torch + spare batteries/backup light, suitable running footwear, waterproof jacket, warm layers, change of clothes, hat + gloves, personal hydration/nutrition, reusable bottle/cup, charged phone, personal medication, basic first-aid/blister kit, towel and dry socks.

A full final kit/race requirement will be published to competitors.

YOUR SPACE

Every competitor will have a small designated area inside the Surf Life Saving Club for their kit and race admin.

You’ll have the facilities you need inside, but please pack smart and keep your footprint sensible. There are a lot of you sharing the space.

If you want a larger or more private personal admin area, you’re welcome to bring your own suitable setup for outside. Just remember where we are:

A beach. In Cornwall. In October.

Plan accordingly.

Support crews, friends and family are very welcome, but we ask everyone to respect competitors’ space, particularly during the short turnaround between rounds.

The upstairs viewing area will be the main space for supporters to relax when they're not running.

Location: Perranporth Life Saving Club will be the HQ.

Entry Standard: LIMINAL is a demanding endurance format and, due to the nature of the event, we strongly recommend that competitors are capable of running three miles in 24 minutes or under on undulating terrain.

While this pace is not necessarily required, participants should feel and be appropriately trained for sustained endurance output across multiple rounds.

This guidance exists to support participant safety and to maintain the standard of the event. LIMINAL is designed to challenge composure, resilience and physical capability, and arriving properly prepared will give you the best possible experience on the day.
