Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a group of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run/walk alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry at the standard adult rate. Individual entrants aged 16-25 are invited to use the discretionary young adult discount code Spunch25 when entering if they are on low or zero income. This will provide a 25% discount on the applicable entry fee. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. A Thursday evening Themed Spunch Special to mark the progress of Macclesfield's Mighty Silkmen in this year's FA Cup - held during build-up to the 4th Round clash with Premier League Brentford! A Macclesfield Community event suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Locals and newcomers always welcome.
To be held from Bar 27 at the Moss Rose / Leasing.com Stadium itself with fine views over the hallowed "turf" from the Bar 27 Suite.
Participants are encouraged to join in with the Macc FC / FA Cup / Football theme. Maybe wearing Blue? Maybe wearing your favourite team shirt? Maybe something silky?! Maybe fancy dress? But this is entirely optional!
On-site Registration opens at 4pm and you can start anytime from 4pm to 730pm. (Last start for 90 min course 7pm. Last start for 120 min course 630pm). Early starters will get the benefit of some daylight! Sunset is at 515pm and it will be dark from 550pm. Torch and hi-vis clothing required by everyone who intends to still be out after 515pm.
What?
A big sporty treasure hunt with a difference - A fun, friendly & safe mini-adventure with a unique & colourful map. Run or walk. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! 60, 90 and 120 min course duration
options (you can choose on the evening itself).
Visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, Satellite punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch. With over 60 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
For runners, walkers, friends & families. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Go solo, pair or in a group of 3 or more. We can usually pair you up on the night if you prefer not to go alone. Lots of help available for newbies. Dogs are welcome too on the course, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed inside the bar sorry.
Final details and the MapRun course will be published to all entrants the day before the event.
Where?
Bar 27, Macclesfield FC, The Leasing.com Stadium, Moss Ln, Macclesfield SK11 7SW. This excellent venue with a panoramic view over the Macclesfield FC pitch will provide a warm welcome with a full selection of drinks from the bar and food options (to be confirmed). The venue is child friendly. No dogs in the bar at this one please.
Parking, Registration, Help, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at or very near the venue.
Getting there: About 30 mins from J17-19 M6, J 5-6 M56 & J3 M60. Convenient for Wilmslow, Cheadle, Bramhall, Stockport, Hazel Grove, Disley, Poynton, Bollington, New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Chapel, Buxton, Leek, Biddulph, Congleton, Sandbach & Holmes Chapel etc.
Catch the Spunch Train: Macclesfield train station is 2k from the venue - about 5 mins Uber/cab ride away.
The Area & Course
One of our part daylight / part dark evening series. Along with discovering some of the area's urban network, town-centre and cut-throughs, there will also be a some sections of more adventurous off-road local trails & paths through the area's green corridors, canals & parks.
An overdue return to Macc and what better excuse? Lots of route choice and lots of hilly and less hilly options at this one. Good running / walking on a mixture of underfoot conditions from tarmac to off-road paths*. There will be something for everyone and even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Hope you will come along and give it a go. *total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
