Broughshane 5 Race

Ballymena Runners in conjunction with their main sponsor, The Thatch Inn Gastro Pub Broughshane, is delighted to announce the date for the Broughshane 5  Road Race.

Date
The race takes place on Monday 17th August 2026 at 7.00pm outside the Broughshane Community Centre on the Knockan Road.

Entries
There will be no entries on the night and entries are capped - so register as soon as you can as this race will sell out. Only entries made before Sunday 26th July 2026 will be guaranteed a free technical running vest so you'd better be quick. Entries close midnight Sunday 9th August. 

Event min age: 16 years or over (after race date 17th August 2026)

Medals and Prizes

• All finishers will receive a bespoke commemorative medal as they finish.
• Prizes will be distributed after the event in the Community Centre.
• Male & Female Open Winners: 1st - £100, 2nd - £75 and 3rd - £50. Start time (whistle) to finish mat applied (guntime)
• Age Category Prices £30 each - Male and Female (35-39,40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+). All age categories will be 'chip time' (start mat to finish mat).
• Team prizes (male and female) - top 4/club count - lowest cumulative finish position wins.
• Top junior Male and female (under 18) - £30

Race number collection
Early pack collection will be held at The Thatch Inn, Broughshane on Sunday 16th August from 1pm to 3pm, or on the day, at Broughshane Community Centre at 21 Knockan Road, Broughshane from 4.00pm to 6.30pm. We would encourage as many entrants as possible to pre-register as this will make life a lot easier for the registration volunteers on the day.

Transfers / Deferrals:

There will be strictly no refunds or deferrals. 

Transfers or name changes can be facilitated online only until midnight 10th August 2026. 

Parking & Toilets
Please car share to reduce congestion in Broughshane village.

Parking will be available at the following locations (map at bottom of page):

1. Broughshane Community Centre, toilets available here (Limited spaces 76 only)
2. Behind James McNeill Hardware (5 min walk to registration 100 spaces)
3. Behind the Thatch, toilets available here(4 min walk to registration 20 spaces)
4. 1st Broughshane Church hall 44 spaces
5. 2nd Broughshane Church Car Park , toilets will also be available here in the church hall (2 min walk to registration, 120 spaces)
6. Raceview Mill, follow route marked in red for shortcut to community centre

We are delighted to announce that we have experienced runners from Ballymena Runners that will pace you to your goal time. So if you want that time, or maybe a 5 mile PB come trust them to get you around!

The Ballymena Runners Big Feed
Please join us at the Community Centre after the race for the famous Ballymena Runners Big Feed and if you're still thirsty then onto the Thatch Inn Gastro Pub in Broughshane for some well earned rehydration!!

The route is an Athletics NI officially measured 5m route. Good news for all you Powerof10 lovers!
