Inverness Orienteering Club welcomes you to Ord Hill for the third event of the Northern Night Cup series.

Terrain / Planner’s Comments: Ord Hill has varied terrain with a mix of open woodland and areas of dense forest. The summit of Ord Hill and the broad ridge leading to it lie along the centre of the woodland and so all courses will involve some ascent and descent.

Event Centre:  Registration and download will be located in the  Forestry Commission car park

What3Words: endings.minivans.surround

Parking: Parking will be in the Forestry Commission car park approx. 1.5km from North Kessock.

Registration: from 17:45

Starts: 18:00 to 19:00

Courses close: 20:00

Toilets: There are no toilets available at Ord Hill. The nearest public toilets are at the Old Pier in North Kessock or the lower car park below Ord Hill on the southbound A9.

Courses:  Course details are as follows.

Course Distance / Climb
Novice 2.4 km / tbc
Short 3.0 km / tbc
Long 4.2 km / tbc

Pre-entry Information:
Please pre-enter here. Closing date: Tuesday 14th December at 23:59hrs.

Event timing:  SI punching will be used, with SI Air enabled. SI timing chips will be available to hire for £1, with a limited number of SIAC Air for hire for £3

Safety:

  • Courses close at 20:00.
It is essential that you report to download after your run (even if you do not complete your course) so we know you are back safely!

  • Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety at all times.

  • Head torch, spare torch and whistle are required. Mobile phones are strongly recommended. Full leg cover is required. An extra top layer and high-vis reflective clothing may also be sensible choices. If the weather is inclement on the night, cagoules (hood & taped seams) will have to be carried - and this will be checked

  • Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult unless they have proven competence and confidence at night orienteering.

  • Remember to check carefully for ticks after the event - they can be found even at this time of year.

First Aid cover is being provided by qualified members of INVOC. The first aid kit will be at registration.
