A big day on the heart of the Bob Graham Round. Leg 3 is long, rocky, and technical, and this recce allows you to practise the complex route-finding that catches many runners out. We climb steeply from Dunmail to Steel Fell, traverse to Calf Crag, then cut onto the high plateau at High Raise before joining the spectacular chain of summits across the Langdale Pikes.
From there we tackle Bowfell, Esk Pike, Great End, the ascent of Scafell Pike, and finally the route onto Scafell using Foxes Tarn, Lords Rake, or another safe line depending on conditions. The steep descent into Wasdale finishes the leg.
