Welcome to this year's series of 3 Turkey Race events - three fun and social events after Christmas, bring the family, have some fun and run off the seasonal food ! Each event will have a Long course, a Short course and easier courses for newcomers and Juniors. Stony Hazel will have both Orange and Yellow courses.
Unsure which course to enter? The longer courses (Long and Short) will be technical courses designed for more experienced orienteers. The Yellow course is the easiest at this event, suitable for beginners and older children. The Orange course is a bit harder and will tempt you off the beaten track slightly.
Stony Hazel is stony underfoot, and the ground is generally wet and slippy. There is a path network but some paths are indistinct and camouflaged by leaves.
We encourage running in pairs or groups – it is a good way to start orienteering. To do this, enter the event using one person’s name, and please add the names of everyone accompanying in the ‘Additional names and ages’ box. You can also request extra maps, if required.
