Welcome to the Loch Ness and Glen Affric Gravel Sportive

A grassroots cycling event run by the communities of Glen Urquhart and Strathglass, with surplus profits going back into the local community, with six local charities benefiting from the inaugural event in 2025.

The route explained:

The main route of about 64 miles with 5,800 feet of ascent links the two Glens via gravel tracks and short roads, with 2026 taking riders further into Glen Affric for a challenging Highland experience.

The 40 mile route:

New for 2026 we are also offering a shorter route of approximately 40 miles and 4500 feet of ascent. This will take you to the village of Cannich and the location of our already famous food stop, where you can enjoy a relaxing drink and eateries before returning to the finish line in Drumnadrochit.

Route Map

The 64 mile route:

Starting and finishing in Drumnadrochit on the shores of Loch Ness; the route winds through Glen Urquhart Forest to Corrimony and along quiet roads to Cannich. From there, riders re-enter the forest, towards the dramatic landscapes of Glen Affric, passing Dog Falls and continuing west via the quiet access road before reaching Tomich. A linking road then reconnects Tomich and Corrimony, followed by a final forest section with a leg-burning climb back to the finish. Along the way, participants are treated to breathtaking views, vibrant autumn colours, and the warm hospitality of local volunteers.

Our purpose and ambition:

Proceeds from the event will grow beyond supporting local charities to having a lasting legacy through trail development of cycling and walking tracks in the area.  With growing interest from outdoor enthusiasts, Drumnadrochit’s cycling and walking Hub is well-positioned to assist with providing guidance on transport, accommodation, and route planning for both Glenurquhart and Glen Affric.
