Race Information:
Distance: 5 miles (8 km)
Ascent: 1,250 ft (381 m)
Start Time: 1:00 pm
Start/Finish Location: Bleasdale Parish Hall
Route Discription:
The race begins at Bleasdale Parish Hall, heading across approximately 1,500 metres of farmland which is often muddy, passing Bleasdale Circle and continuing towards Higher Fairsnape Farm. A gradual climb follows on a farm track for another 1,500 metres to reach the fell gate.
From there, the route climbs steeply on rough, grassy terrain with hidden rocks to Paddy’s Pole (CP1). The cut-off time at Paddy's Pole is 55 minutes.
Runners then descend gradually along a mixed fell path of grass and rock before another steady climb to Parlick (CP2). The return features a steep grassy descent, with potential hidden rocks and reeds, before rejoining farm tracks and fields past Blindhurst Farm. The final 2 km follow farmland and tracks back to the finish.
The highest point reaches 500 metres, where conditions can be exposed and severe, including strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, frozen ground, snow, or ice.
