New for 2026...Looping around Lesudon is a LDWA members only event comprising 3 routes of approx 10 miles each, all starting and finishing at Leusdon Memorial Hall.
Due to bird nesting and lambing/calving/foaling seasons numbers are strictly limited and a wait list will be in operation. Entries open on 1 December.
Entrants may undertake distances of 10, 20 or 31 miles by undertaking 3 loops of approx 10 miles in a specific order. The routes are a mix of open moor, woodlands, bridleways, footpaths, fields with livestock, river walks and lanes. They encompass sights such as the Ten Commandments stone, Hembury Castle Fort and woods and a number of dartmoor tors including Sharp Tor (a current Hollywood filming location).
A marshals event will take place on Saturday 28 March 2026. Please contact Paula at [email protected] using the subject "Leusdon" for information about the marshals event and how to obtain a place.
Registration opens: 07:15. Hot drinks, squash, water and biscuits availabe before the start. All entrants to start at 8am. Loops must be completed in the specified order and all entrants must return to the indoor hall between to check in and for light refreshments/hot and cold drinks. A hot meal will be provided at the finish. All to finish by 20:00.
Entrants must be able to read a map and follow compass bearings and have sufficient knowledge, experience, equipment and navigational skills to take part in this walk in all conditions and especially in the event of bad weather. Entrants must follow the Dartmoor Ranger Code and Countryside Code at all times.
All routes will be covered by the OS Explorer OL28 Dartmoor (1:25,000).
We apologise but unfortunately dogs (other than registered disability assistance dogs) cannot be allowed to participate in the event.
All entrants will be emailed links for the route descriptions and GPX files prior to the event.
Certificates will be given on the day to all those who complete the walk.
