Terrain
Bacton Woods is a mature mixed coniferous and deciduous forest with some notable veteran sessile oaks. A valley runs through the area from northeast to southwest providing some interesting contour detail. Mapped earth features such as knolls and earthbanks can be found throughout the area.
There are large areas of bracken which can be high in places and some brashings which are indicated by an undergrowth screen. At this time of year this means courses will be quite physically hard. There are also some areas of brambles which are shown by a double undergrowth screen but courses will be planned to avoid these as far as possible.
The woods are popular with mountain bikers and there are many small paths and bike trails, the most used of which have been mapped but with seasonal growth some of these may be overgrown.
