If at all possible, please share transport with fellow runners. As a club, TACH is concerned to minimise the environmental impact of its events, as well as the impact on local residents. Parking is available at Bath Hill East Car Park on Bath Hill, Keynsham BS31 1HH. Parking is free all day on race day.
The number 39 bus stops very near to the race HQ.
It is a 13 minute walk from Keynsham railway station.
TACH wants its races to be as inclusive as possible. So, while the Female prize category is only eligible to those who meet the England Athletics criteria for Female category competition, we now have an Open prize category available for all competitors irrespective of gender. Please select your prize category when entering the race.
This is an evolving area in sport, and TACH will continue to investigate ways to improve the inclusivity of our races.
A medal will be awarded to every finisher.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd (Open and Female) as well as first V40, V50, V60 and V70+ (both Open and Female), and 1st, 2nd and 3rd canicross. There will also be a club team prize (based on first four club finishers).
Half of any surplus from the event will be donated to the Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank. Last year, nearly £900 was donated to charity.
The race is closely marshalled and we have First Aid medics in support. If you are unfortunate enough to sustain an injury, please ask a fellow runner to inform the next marshal. They will inform the Race Director, and help will be mobilised. You would be well advised to carry an extra layer of clothing to keep you warm whilst you wait. It would also be very helpful if you had the app 'What3words' on your phone, as this will make locating you much easier.
The race route is alongside rivers and through rolling agricultural land and woods, with the obvious slip and trip hazards. Please take particular care if there are livestock in the fields, and WALK if you see cattle with calves.
Over 30 TACH members will be involved in making the race a safe and fun event. Please thank them, as they will be out on the course for several hours.
There will be 2 water stations during the race, and one at the finish.
Please note: TACH races are cupless, so if you wish to make use of the stations, please bring a cup or refillable bottle.
1. Earbuds or headphones
Bone conducting headphones are permitted. In-ear headphones (earbuds) are banned for the Keynsham Dandy, and runners using these headphones will be disqualified. This helps provide safety for all runners, in terms of hearing instructions from marshals, on road sections and being aware of the needs of fellow runners. There are several road sections on the Keynsham Dandy.
2. Short-cutting the route knowingly
Runners must follow the course at all times, the penalty for deliberately cutting the course will be at the Race Director's discretion
3. Time penalties
There are two streams on the Keynsham Dandy race route. As we are hosting the race in October, the water will be a reasonable temperature. Of course you don't HAVE to run through the streams, but there will be time penalties: 10 minutes at Woolard and 5 minutes at Tucking Mill.
4. Pregnancy policy
We offer 100% refunds to runners who notify us of pregnancy. Please email us at [email protected] to arrange this.
5. Guide runners
Guide runners for the blind, visually impaired, or disabled runners are welcomed. Both the blind, visually impaired or disabled runner and their guide runner must register for the event. We offer free entry for guide runners, please email [email protected] to arrange this. Note: while blind, visually impaired, or disabled runners are eligible for prizes, guide runners are not eligible for prizes.
Pairs should both have experience of running on the equivalent terrain to that found in the race.
