🌞SpunchFEST25!  Come and be part of the World's first Festival of Satellite Punch MapSport!

A MapSport Summer Festival full of fun for families & friends of all ages & abilities. 

We are teaming up with our friends from the National Trust at Lyme Park, MapRun, Disley Runners, Lyme Runners, PeakRaid, Questars, Bollington Brewing & Happy Valley Camping to bring you a 3-day weekend summer festival of MapSport. 

The headliner (on our Pyramid Stage😉) is the inaugural UK MapSport Championships** on Saturday 16 August to be held in the grandeur of Lyme Park with kind support from the National Trust - we can't think of a better setting for such an event!   **We were going to call it the World Champs, but we are saving that for 2026! 

On the Friday evening there will be a standard 60/90/120 Spunch from the event campsite at Happy Valley Camping, and then on the Sunday there will be a Big Macc 1-2-3 Spunch from the Bollington Brewery Tap Room in Macclesfield.

All 3 events will as usual be OPEN TO ALL - whether you are a runner or walker, whether you are competitive or not, whether you want to go solo, in a pair, or a family/friends group, whether you are an experienced navigator or just starting out - there is something for everyone at these events.  Newcomers and locals are always very welcome to come along and join the fast-growing community of Spunchers!

Here is the weekend programme:

• Friday evening 15 August  - Spunch 60/90/120 from Happy Valley Camping, Bramhall.  Start window 16:30-19:30
• Saturday morning - ParkRun tourism options at nearby Bramhall Park, Lyme Park, Woodbank Park & Brabyns Park 
• Saturday afternoon / evening 16 August - UK MapSport Championships in Lyme Park.  1hr & 2hr Championship Sport Courses plus 3hr Fun Course.  Start window 15:00-18:00
• Sunday 17 August - Big Macc Spunch 1-2-3 from Bollington Brewery Tap Room, Macclesfield.  Start window 11:00-14:00

All 3 Spunch events will be very conveniently located being within 15-20 mins drive from the event campsite.

Enter all 3 events and make a weekend of it, or enter just one or two.  Make the event campsite at Happy Valley Camping your base for the weekend or travel each day.

Check out the entry fees on the individual event listings.  We are committed to keeping MapSport affordable - especially for younger people and young families.  And the earlier you enter, the lower cost it is.  Kids go FREE & Kids camp for FREE.

ABOUT THE CAMPING....

We are grateful to Ed & Kate at Happy Valley Camping for welcoming us to their site as our hub for the weekend and for waiving the fee for kids meaning it is just £10 per adult per night.  It is a lovely, peaceful, flat, well-mown, well- drained and (often) sunny camping field, very convenient for the weekend's events and other local amenities (supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre all within 15mins walk).  The Friday evening Spunch will start and finish in the camping field, and there will be a street food trader on site on the Friday evening.

The site takes tents, campervans and micro caravans.  There are male / female toilets, water points and a dishwash station.  There is no electrical hook-up, hot water or showers.  (Showers can be had at the very-nearby leisure centre)

Event 3 of 3 - Sunday 17 August Big Macc Spunch 1-2-3 from the Bollington Brewery Tap Room

Sunday daytime Town & Trail Spunch starting and finishing at the excellent Bollington Brewery Tap Room, Brook Mill, Parker Street, Macclesfield, SK11 7BQ.

1, 2 and 3 hour score course options (choose on the day itself) suitable for runners & walkers, friends & families.  Dog friendly too.  Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at the venue.

Our second Big Macc 1-2-3 exploring the town's green spaces direct from the venue.  A mixed-terrain Spunch that might take you through the town's parkland & Riverside Park, using the Macclesfield Canal, Middlewood Way, and the the many green corridors in between.   No Macclesfield Spunch would be complete without also visiting the attractive town centre and tackling the 108 Steps.

Gently undulating, and with good underfoot conditions* so it is both family and dog friendly as well as being fast going for the runners amongst you.  Even locals will likely discover new paths and places!

With an extended 11:00 to 14:00pm start window, treats for the kids, a post-Spunch gathering inside or outside at the Tap Room and route options suitable for kids of all ages, this will be another good one to get the whole family out n about! 

The venue is just 20 mins drive from the SpunchFest camp site at Happy Valley.

Also within 30 mins from M6 J17-19, M56 J5-6 and M60 J1-3.  Convenient for anywhere in or around Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, High Peak, Derbyshire, Staffordshire etc.

Run, jog or walk - suitable for road runners, trail runners, park runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike.  3k to 33k, the choice is yours!   Newcomers and locals always very welcome.  Great for families and friends to do together.  Go solo, pair or team.  Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers.  Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

Start at your convenience anytime between 11:00 & 14:00.  (Last start for 3 hour course 13:00).  Registration open from 11:00.  

Navigating with a specially prepared map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.

There will be a food trader operating in the courtyard selling food after your run / walk, and of course a vast range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available from the Tap Room bar.  (Including the beers brewed on-site). 

With over 80 Spunchpoints to go for - how many will you bag?

Parking is available in the town's nearby car parks, and on nearby street sides all within 5-10 mins walk. 

Catch the Spunch Train.   The venue is less than 1k / 10 mins walk from Macclesfield Train Station which is well served by trains from Manchester, Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent and all stations in between.

Bikes can be locked at the venue at your own risk.
