This one day Navigation Skills Course is a practical hands-on day for runners or walkers (conducted at walking pace).
Expect a full day of learning navigation skills, including route planning, use of map and compass, technological aids, judging pace and distance, and mitigating risks.
After a short theoretical session, the majority of the day will be spent learning and practicing navigation out on the ground in a variety of terrain.
There will be maximum student to tutor ration of 6:1 to ensure everyone gets a high level of attention and has their own needs addressed.
Note: we also run NNAS (National Navigation Award Scheme) courses at Bronze and Silver level which lead to an accredited qualification. This course can be done as an alternative to the Bronze course (without gaining the qualification) if you would like to go straight to the Silver (intermediate) level qualification.
The course will be held in the White Peak area if the Peak District, and being a very practical course will be entirely outdoors. The exact location will be advised to participants ahead of the course.

To take part in the course, you will need the following kit. If you are do not have any of the items we may be able to loan you them for the course, but please let us know in advance if this is the case.
