The Silver National Navigation Award is a practical hands-on award for runners or walkers (conducted at walking pace), accredited to the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS).
It is an intermediate level course that teaches the skills required to step off well trodden paths and use landscape features, together with a compass and other techniques to follow a route. It is aimed at people that have either completed the Bronze Navigator award or already have some navigation experience on routes using defined paths.
For the full Silver Navigator award syllabus please see the NNAS website. The NNAS Silver Navigator award is accredited by the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 4, and 2 SCQF credit points are awarded on completion.
This course is run over 2 consecutive days, and has a maximum tutor to participant ratio of 1:4.
It will be held in the White Peak area if the Peak District, and being a very practical course will be entirely outdoors. The exact location will be advised to participants ahead of the course.
