Route/Distance: Circular route on cross country footpaths and sections of seawall. There are 3 checkpoints on the 26.5 mile route and 2 on the 18 mile route.
Start Times:
08:00 Long Route Walkers
09:00 Fast Walkers/All runners/Short Route walkers
All to finish by 17:30.
Entry fee includes refreshments at start, snacks at checkpoints, light meal at finish, and certificate to all finishers.
Route Descriptions & .gpx files will be available on the Essex & Herts LDWA website prior to the event. No printed route descriptions will be available at the event.
Closing date for entries is 19 October 2025, unless the entry limit is reached earlier, in which case entries will close when the entry limit of 175 is reached. Entries are not transferable.
Cancellations before 10 October 2025 will incur a £5 administration fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations after 10 October 2025, unless the event is cancelled.
All entrants should bring the route description, a mug for drinks at checkpoints, a compass and a torch. Suitable clothing is required as the Essex marshes can be muddy and windy!
Please note that no dogs are allowed on the route or at checkpoints, except for assistance dogs.
This the 25th Blackwater Marathon, and it is part of the Essex & Herts Triple Challenge together with the Herts Hobble and Essex Walker.
