2025 British Athletics Uphill Only Trial for the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships.
Course Details
- The event will take place on Skiddaw, Cumbria, starting at Dodd Wood, CA12 4QE (parking available here). The route will start in a parking bay at Dodd Wood, follow a marked track through the woods to the base of the ridge which then takes in Ullock Pike, Long Side, around Carl Side finishing on the rising traverse path to Skiddaw.
- The courses will be marked and marshaled. There will be a cut off time at Carlside (cairn) at 50 minutes.

Programme
- Race start: 16:00
- 6.4km/4.0ml, 905m/2969ft ascent
- Entry costs £15 per athlete
- Number collection/registration at Dodd Wood car park from 14.00
- Race open to athletes born in or before 2005
Facilities
Toilets are available next to Dodd Wood cafe. Parking will be available in the public car park at Dodd Wood CA12 4QE. Competitots are responsible for parking fees. Cafe closes at 4.00 pm, toilets and car park will remain open.
Safety (VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ)
- All competitors must carry a waterproof top, hat and gloves and be prepared to also carry full body cover (taped waterproof trousers) and a thermal top if required.
- The Race Organiser will decide what kit should be carried on the day. This information will be available at registration.
- The race finish high up on an exposed mountain side/summit and the only protection you will have from the elements is the gear you carry (organisers are unable to transport kit to the summit).
- Failure to comply with any minimum kit rule will result in disqualification.
- Any athlete who retires from the race must report their retirement to a race marshal.
- All athletes must report to, and hand in their number to, the Race Organiser on returning to the start area. RO will be at Dodd wood car park/cafe area.
- Athletes are responsible for making their own way back down the mountain after the finish. We recommend that you follow a flagged race route back down the mountain to the start.

This race is a trial to select the British Athletics team for the Uphill Only race at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, taking place in Canfranc, Spain between 25th and 28th September 2025. The selection policy for the event can be viewed here:

Note that for the purposes of selecting the senior British Athletics teams for the Uphill Only and the Classic races, senior athletes are defined as born in or before 2005.
