Tuesday evening Town & Country Spunch from the Grapes, 289 Stockport Road, Gee Cross SK14 5RU.
60, 90 and 120 min score course options (choose on the night itself). Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at the Grapes. Daylight evening Spunch for runners & walkers. Family friendly & dog friendly too.
In an early return to The Grapes at Gee Cross, this time we will be heading West into the Tame Valley countryside. Significantly less hilly than our recent Spunch on Werneth Low, we will negotiate our way through green corridors in Hyde before emerging into the valley itself using riverside, canal side, and old railway line trails.
About 10 mins from M60 J24 & J25, the event centre is convenient for anywhere with easy access to the M60 Manchester Outer Ring, and especially handy for Hyde, Denton, Romiley, Marple, Glossop, Hadfield & Hattersley etc.
Run, jog or walk - suitable for road runners, trail runners, park runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! Newcomers and locals especially welcome. Great for families and friends to do together. Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
Start at your convenience anytime between 530pm & 730pm. (Last start for 90min course 715pm, last start for 120min course 645pm). Registration open from 530pm.
Navigating with a specially prepared map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.
After dropping through town into the valley, you will emerge into the greenery of the Tame Valley and some good running / walking on a rich network of well drained paths*. Don't forget to leave enough in the tank for a likely uphill return to the pub! Less hilly options will be available for those who might prefer closer proximity to the pub! Even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
The Grapes will provide a warm welcome with excellent Food & Drink available after your run / walk. The pub is child and dog friendly. And it has good outdoor eating / drinking areas too if the weather is kind.
With around 80 Spunchpoints to go for - how many will you bag?
Parking will be free and on nearby roads / street sides all within 5 mins walk from the Grapes.
Catch the Spunch Train / Bus. The area is well served by public transport. Hyde Central train station is about 2k walk / jog from the event centre, and there are several bus routes that get you close to the pub.
Hope you will come along and give it a go.
