Join us on Saturday 16th August as we set off from Dumfries Baptist Church (Gillbrae Rd, Dumfries DG1 4EJ), making our way through stunning scenery to the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle before returning to the church.
This Challenge has been getting people on their bikes and enjoying some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery since 2006. The routes have changed a bit over the years but the aim remains the same – to enjoy a fantastic day of cycling whilst helping people living in poverty around the world to transform their lives.
This year the long route is slightly shorter at just over 100 Km (70 miles) . The mid ride refreshment stop will be in the Tynron Village Hall with tea and coffee as well as the usual cakes. The route then passes through the Drumlanrig estate and back to Dumfries on the minor hill roads east of the Nith Valley. The route includes over 4000 feet of ascent.
There is a shorter 42 mile route taking a more direct route to Tynron and return.
For those who would like a shorter ride there is an easy 16 mile route alongside the Nith estuary and past Caerlaverock Castle ( there will be time to stop and explore the Historic Scotland castle if you wish.)
As with last year, we are including a 5 mile walking route around Dumfries. The walk will be lead and the route may vary.

There will be no official timing, but there will be a 100km "Strava" segment on the long route for anyone with a competitive instinct.
All courses will begin at Dumfries Baptist Church, winding its way to the castle for some light refreshments before heading back to the church. We will meet at the church at 9am for a 9:30am start.
There is also a shorter 16 mile route available which takes in some fantastic scenery around Dumfries, more information to follow.
The registration fees for this year's cycle will go towards covering the costs of the cycle.
However, since the Cycle Challenge is a fundraising event we ask every cyclist to consider either:
All money raised through these two options will help bring hope to people living in extreme poverty.
