Entries:

Pre-entries are strongly encouraged to simplify registration on the day, and to ensure that everyone gets a map. To assist late entries, we will keep on-line entries open until 21.00 the day before the event. There may be limited entry on the day, but only if we have spare maps. Please note that this event is part of a series of five events. You may wish to save disappointment by entering all or some of the events at the same time.

Entry fees are £7 for non-member adults, £6 for member adults and £3 for juniors (under 21) and students. Please note, these fees are the same for individuals, pairs or small groups. e.g. two adults running together would pay just £7 (or £6 if members), not £14. There is space on the entry page to add details of any other persons sharing your entry.

Entries are free for SROC junior members. Contact [email protected] for the discount code.

If you are a newcomer to the sport and do not have a an orienteering dibber (to record visiting the controls, also called an SI-Card) then please indicate that you need to borrow an SI-Card.

Courses:

The events in the SROC Summer Series are intended to appeal to both newcomers and experienced orienteers alike. The technical difficulty is such that experience is an advantage but not a necessity.

At this and the other events in the series there will be one course, split into two parts: the Prologue and the Final. All runners will run the Prologue first, with start times between 6.30 and 7pm. They will then, if they wish, run the Final. Both courses will be planned to "sprint" length, meaning a winning time for top athletes of 12-15 minutes per race. More normal mortals might expect to take 20-25 minutes.

Also optional is to join the "reverse order chasing start" for the Final. If you don't fancy the challenge of staying ahead of faster runners, or indeed of catching slower runners, you can start the Final whenever you want. Either way the results will show a total time taken for both parts added together. Chasing starters will be set off in reverse order of their Prologue finishing times, with only a small gap between runners.

You may expect that the planner has included either butterflies (loops taken in different order) or some other way to split the runners and prevent following.
