The second Warrior Battleaxe event will be held at Silver How, Elterwater.

A classic area of open fell with contour detail, rock features, marshes and steep slopes.

Again this year we are offering a Long Tech course  - similar to the Long course but with paths and ruined walls removed from the map, along with standard Long, Short and Yellow courses. ]

Finalised course lengths - Long tech/Long 4.9k + 200m, Short 3.5k + 120m, Yellow 1.5k

Map scales - Long /long tech 1:10000 (to fit A4), Short 1:7500,  Yellow 1:7500

Parking at Elterwater Common car park.  Look for O kite on B5343.  Please note this is a pay and display car park - signs in car park on how to pay.  Additional parking in Elterwater village (NT car park).  There are also laybys around the common but please park considerately.

Assembly & Registration at Elterwater Common car park GR NY330051.

Please note:  Assembly to Start is 800m, 150m climb.  Finish at Assembly

Bad weather - cagoule and whistle compulsory as this is a high and exposed area. Check for signs at Assembly.

Starts between 17.00 - 18.30. Courses close 19.30. Check the WAROC website just before the events for final details as some details may change at the last minute.  Novices and slower runners should start before 18.00.  Car share wherever possible as parking could be tight.

Very limited EOD is subject to availability of maps. For EOD please bring the correct money.

A result in all 3 events is required for an overall result.  Prizegiving after event 3.

Please check the WAROC website (http://www.warrior-orienteering.org.uk) for the venue and course details.

Dibber hire will be available.

Controls will be SIAC enabled but please punch both the check and start controls.

Important safety information - courses will close at 19.30 and everyone must finish by 19.30 and return to Download immediately after finishing because there will be very little daylight to organise a rescue. In the event of a missing competitor Mountain Rescue will be called.
