A new fell race for September 2025 starting and finishing in the Yorkshire Dales Village of Ingleton, following a logical high-level route around the watershed of the two rivers which converge in Ingleton. In the process it starts in Yorkshire, visiting Lancashire’s highest point, then into Cumbria, and back into Yorkshire to return via some familiar landmarks.
It covers 31.5km/19.5 miles with 1580m/5184feet of climbing, and is registered with the Fell Runners Association as an A-Long event.
Starting at Mealbank Hall (SD 694 734) you will run up the road a short way, before turning off and heading towards Kingsdale. Navigating some rough open fell terrain to the first control at Gragareth, then some boggy fell-top running along the ridge towards Green Hill. From here, crossing the wall into Cumbria then leads to a tough climb to Whernside trigpoint. A wild descent down the front of Whernside leads to Ribblehead followed by some of the best high-level running in the Dales, heading to Ingleborough via Park Fell and returning to Ingleton.
All competitors must be experienced in navigating arduous open fell terrain, in all the bizarre and unpredictable weather conditions we’ve become accustomed to in the UK.
NO RECCEs of the route please, as some parts are not on open access land.
