The Mortimer Forest Trail Race has been rebooted after a 5 year hiatus. Join us on 15th December for a fresh take on this iconic race.
It is a 10 mile-ish multi terrain race set in the beautiful Mortimer Forest on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. A challenging course held in the depths of winter, it includes the infamous Big Dippers, but after a stiff climb up to the top of High Vinnalls you are treated to a wonderful downhill finish, with views across the Welsh Marches, as far as the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons. Expect mud, hills and wonderful trails.
A shorter 4 mile course omits the Big Dippers and sticks to larger tracks, but still includes a trip up High Vinnalls with its far reaching views and cracking descent.
11:00 start for 10 mile and 11:15 start for 4 mile.
The course will be marshalled and signed.
There are two road crossing on the 10 mile route, these will be marshalled, but please take care when crossing and obey all marshal directions.
Minimum age for 10 mile is 19, minimum age for 4 mile is 15.
Race HQ and parking will be at Moor Park School. Please only park at the school. The future of the event relies on the goodwill of neighbours and all forest users.
There is limited parking so please car share or take public transport.
Both routes start by Blackpool carpark, a short walk from the school.
The race will be supporting Friends of Mortimer Forest and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, with donations going to support the work they do in the forest.
