Info: New entries for this event closed on Friday 23rd August 2024.
Starting in Brodick, at the Ormidale Sports Field , the route proceeds up to the South East corner of the Sports Field, through to West Mayish estate, contouring through this estate (approx 200 yards on tarmac), and through a field to turn right on to the Old Lamlash Road footpath.
The course is up this rough footpath to the top of the hill between Brodick and Lamlash. Then wheel right on to a broad Forestry road which takes runners up for ½ mile, then down into Glen Cloy. Crossing the Cloy Burn on the Forestry bridge, runners run back down the footpath, cross two rough fields, and follow the track beside the burn, past Auchrannie Resort, to finish at the old garage forecourt at the bottom of Auchrannie Road.
As only 200 yards of the route is on tarmac pavement or road, trail shoes, with grip, would be the recommended footwear.
The route is about 10K long and ascends about 600 feet from and back to sea -level.
There are eating facilities to suit all pockets in Brodick - so lots of options for post-race refuelling.
The race starts at 14:30 so Mainland runners will need to get the 12:30 ferry from Ardrossan (11.15 train from Glasgow Central). Travellers should check the Calmac website for details of any disruptions to the timetable.
The start of the race and registration is at Ormidale Sports Pavilion about 15 minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
There are toilets and changing facilities in the Sports Pavilion.
Cars should be parked in the Ormidale Sports Ground car park.
