*** Due to unforeseen circumstances concerning the safety of this year's event, we have decided to cancel the event for 2024. All those who have already registered will receive a full refund in due course. We are sorry for this in many ways, but your safety is paramount. ***

An annual mountain biking event, now in its 24th year, over a 27 mile way-marked course with over 4000 feet of ascent, with two thirds off-road and the rest on country roads.

Set in the beautiful Calder Valley, the route runs over tracks and lanes across the surrounding moors with stunning views of the area. There are, however, some steep ascents and descents as the route takes you from moor top to moor top in these high Pennine valleys.

The route is fully signed, gates and other obstacles are manned by event marshals, and if you find it impossible to continue, we will transport you back to the HQ. Full route information and maps can be found on our website.

A shorter route of 13 miles with just 1800 feet of ascent/descent for those not up to the full route is also available.

Safety is covered by an experienced team with First Aiders and radio communications by Calderdale Raynet.

eBikes are welcome at the event providing that they are covered by the UK Government's EPAC legislation. That is that they must have pedals that can be used to propel it. If your eBike can be propelled without pedalling (a ‘twist and go’ EAPC) then these are classed as a motorcycle or moped and cannot be used on this event.

Hot food and drinks are available at the clubhouse on your return. There is also a licenced bar run by the cricket club that may be open in the afternoon.

Registration at Sowerby Cricket Club, St Peters Avenue, Sowerby, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 1DF. Car parking is available in the school car park (opposite) and on the roadside. Check-in on the day will open at 7.00am and close at 8.25am with a mass start for all routes at 8.30am. Your booking number will be your entry number.

Each competitor receives an event momento.

The event is run by the 24th St Paul's Sowerby Bridge Scout Group.
