NIMRA Championship – Medium distance race
Registration: 9.30 – 10.45 am Leitrim Lodge (face mask required)

Distance: 13k/8miles
Ascent: 682m/2240ft

Route Description
Race start shall be beyond bridge on path, the race follows the Mourne Way back towards Rostrevor
through gate at Batt's Wall, after 1.2km at Yellow Water junction GR 211225, turn left up hill, 400
metres up hill at the next junction keep left in northerly direction following forest road then path
for 1km, when you cross the wall follow up hill on left hand side for 0.75km until you get to
manned CP1 on left hand side of wall GR 224233, use the stone steps to cross wall, over
Tievedockaragh to corner of forest GR 223227, down hill path through forest to unmanned CP2 GR
219222, turn left following forest road to sheep pens and then follow river keeping on left hand
side until river-wire fence
junction, manned CP3 GR 229224, follow fence line and cross after 0.5km at fence corner, head north
towards Pierce's Castle summit, manned CP4 GR 234239, from here in a north direction to Rocky
summit where you get to final manned CPS GR234259, from summit downhill to finish at Leitrim lodge.
COURSE IS NOT FULLY MARKED! This is a mountain race and some navigation may be required.
Equipment
All runners must carry;
a) Whistle
b) Compass
c) Map of the entire course (Mournes Outdoor Pursuits Map)
d) Emergency rations equivalent to one mars bar (minimum)
e) Waterproof garments affording complete body protection
f) Hat, gloves and a foil blanket

Please bring the listed kit with you; runners will be advised of any adjustments to the kit list at registration. Runners will have their kit checked prior to the start.
Marshals
This race will use a combination of checkpoint dibbers and marshals.
Retirements
All retiring runners should report to the nearest marshal’s post (if possible), return by the safest, direct route and must report to the race organisers at the finish.
