Level D local orienteering event at Hallin Fell on the east side of Ullswater
Pre-entry available on all courses. For Yellow/Novice and Orange courses there will be some entry on the day, subject to map availability (£8 senior, £3 junior)
Parking
Field at Howtown, 6km SW of Pooley Bridge. £2 car parking fee. Lift share if possible.
For anyone looking for an alternative, fun method of getting to the event, the Ullswater Steamers run to the jetty at Howtown. There is strictly NO PARKING at the Howtown Hotel and Tea room carpark.

Blue 5.0km, 210m
Green 4.0km, 165m
Short Green 3.3km, 110m

**Very Short Green - this is the same course as Short Green but with some controls missed out. If you want to do Very Short Green, enter Short Green and pick up a Short Green Map at the start. The map will show which controls to miss. You can decide while on the course whether to take the Very Short Green cut-off.
Map
All courses use a 1:7,500 scale map. 5m contours. Control Descriptions will be printed on the front of the map and loose descriptions will be available at the start.
Groups and Pairs / Extra Maps
If you are new to orienteering and would like to go round as a group or in a pair, just enter one person and use the option to select any additional maps that your group would like at £1 each.
Dibber Hire
Available by pre-order at no charge, £30 if not returned. To pre-order, leave the SI number blank during entry process, and then collect dibber from Enquiries/Download on the day.
Start and Finish
Start between 11:00 and 12:30. The start is located high up on the fell, approximately 1.4km and 150m of ascent from the car park. The walk to the start will be taped. Allow 20-40 minutes.
The finish is located near the car park.
The start and finish boxes need to be punched, but all other boxes will be SIAC enabled.
There is limited space for a lift from the parking field to a location closer (approx 250m distance and 75 m of ascent) to the start available for those who would otherwise possibly not have taken part in this event. Please tick the ‘Lift to start’ box on the entry form and meet at download in the parking field at 11:30 am for a prompt departure.
Safety
Whistles are compulsory. Cagoules may be compulsory subject to weather conditions. Shorts may be worn, but note that there is dead bracken on parts of the area. Check for ticks after running. There will be a first aid kit at registration. Competitors with an existing medical condition are invited to leave details in a sealed envelope at registration.
