Blakethwaite Mines - Guided Run

A tour of the Old Gang Smelting Mills and mine ruins. Starting from Surrender Bridge, this run will be almost entirely on shooting tracks. We’ll follow the tracks through the Old Gang Mines and across Friarfold Hush up to the Blakethwaite Mines. There is a short section across the heather if you want a close look at the dams.
We’ll then retrace our steps back through the Old Gang Mines, turning left at Level House and gently ascending Forefield Rake. There’s an optional opportunity to bag the trig at Great Pinseat (a couple of hundred metres of heather bashing required) before following the track back to the road. A short 500m road section will bring us back to Surrender Bridge.
NB: There is an optional café visit at the end.
Highlights include:
- Lead by a qualified Coach in Running Fitness and Hill and Moorland Leader
- Small group of 15
- Optional cafe visit after the run
