The Yomp Mountain challenge is a two-day event celebrating all things running and outdoors.
This volunteer run event is entering it’s thirty ninth year and with the help of some great sponsors is offering more events than ever before. The Yomp raises money for good causes and to date well over £100,000 has been donated to a variety of good causes.
All the races start and finish at the event Basecamp at the Engine Shed, Kirkby Stephen. Here there will be food, drink, retail and entertainment throughout the weekend.
There will be enthusiastic warmups for all the events and entertaining commentary on the finish throughout. There are medals for all finishers in the 5k, 10k and Night race. Bespoke medals will be presented to the top 10 in the Mountain Marathon, Ultra and 20k. A range of trophies in several different categories will be awarded in all the races. Spot prizes will also make an appearance.
The 5k will be electronically timed and on the day, entries will be welcomed.
Free event parking will be available.

Out of Eden 5k
2024 brings a new dimension to the Yomp Mountain Challenge. This year, with the help of Out of Eden we’re introducing a 5k run/jog/walk around Stenkrith Park and the viaduct walk.
Taking in the breathtaking Millenium Bridge over Stenkrith waterfall and the stunning Merrygill and Podgill viaducts this event is perfect for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. Whether on a journey from couch to 5k or a gentle stretch after participating in one of Saturdays events everyone is welcome.
It’s perfect for a family challenge and dogs are welcome as long as they’re on a lead.
Food, drink and music will be available at Basecamp before, during and after the event.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Northern Viaduct Trust who do such fantastic work in maintaining the viaducts and walks that this community enjoys.
