Beyond the Lune is the brain child of Stu Taylor a seasoned endurance athlete, completing in some of the worlds toughest multi day endurance running and bike packing events. These 2 trail runs have been designed to test you at your level, social runner, competitor or who knows this could be the first step on your way to completing your first ultra!

Stu has created two trail running  routes: a 25km and 16km to showcase the beauty of his local area of Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding parishes of Casterton and Barbon. Both routes have some on and off road sections.

Both routes start directly from the door step of The Barn home to the brilliant Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery and  delicious Coffee Roasters. At the start of the event you will get a free pastry and roasted coffee, then awaiting you at the finish a pint of one of Kirkby Lonsdale's finest beers! (age dependant)

The options

25km / 15 mile - Start time 9.30am

The full route just over the half marathon distance, snakes in and out of the bridleways to the foot of Brownthwaite Pike known locally as Bullpot, the climb to the summit cairn starts here, a steep start on fell road section takes you about half way upto a bridleway/footpath  track that delivers you to the top and a view looking out over the Lune Valley and the mountainous Lake District, on a clear day you can see Blackpool Tower from here! A quick catch of your breath and its all downhill to Barbondale where you will find the only checkpoint and refuel station at the picturesque Barbon Beck. After a refuel you will head through Barbon Manor woods onto the famous hill climb and into Barbon, another chance for refuel as you will pass the Barbon Inn and the local cafe Churchmouse. Now heading back you will be on and off road as you venture back to Devils Bridge where you will take the path alongside the river until you reach your last climb the mighty mill brow, sprint, walk, jog you decide your just about back to the Barn ready for that well deserved refreshment!
